My 3 Dads

I have been truly blessed to have been surrounded by amazing men all my life.

My dad and I may have had a long distance relationship most of my life, but I never doubted how much he cared about me and always had-- and still has-- my best interest at heart. He always urged me, sometimes with a heavy hand, to do well in my studies-- it paid off. Now I urge my students-- with the same heavy hand-- to do well in school (not just my class, even though it IS the most important). Knowing how important a good education is and being able to take advantage of it--that is a great gift.

Jim, my other dad, and I have always shared a special bond. He says it's because I am the youngest of his girls, but I know it's because I am the most awesome! He is a quiet man who thinks about what he's going to say before he says it. He is incredibly loyal to those he cares about and has taught me the importance of a strong work ethic. He has taught me all he knows and that's a lot.

Now I have the pleasure of watching my husband be the best father in the world to our son of 5.75 months. From the very beginning, when he was the one to tell me I was pregnant, his excitement about fatherhood and his hands on enthusiasm has meant the world to me-- and to Weston, who lights up when his dad comes into the room! Matt has never grimaced about changing a diaper, having to get up at night or early in the morning, or even being spit up on. He is a calm, patient, and giving father. Weston really does have the greatest father-- the best of both of my dads rolled into one.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
